Dr. Mahathi D. Kosuri is a Registered Psychological Associate, PSB # 94028765, through the Board of Psychology to Dr. Shannon Daneshrad. Dr. Kosuri offers psychotherapy to young adults (18+) and older adults (65+). Dr. Kosuri, who is a first-generation Indian-American woman, brings nuanced insight in navigating bicultural stressors, assimilation challenges, identity formation, and other intersectional experiences. She uses an integrative interpersonal style centered on cultivating a safe and trusting therapeutic alliance across race, class, gender, and cultural identities. Her trauma-informed approach is grounded in both clinical expertise and a deep commitment to collaborative care. She works with the client to examine therapist-client patterns to explore core clinical issues that often grow from interpersonal traumatic experiences, while integrating psychoeducation on the biological effects of psychosocial trauma on the brain behavior relationship.

She specializes in supporting adults (18+) experiencing a range of neurocognitive and psychiatric challenges, including neurodevelopmental disorders (i.e., ADHD, autism spectrum disorder), chronic post-traumatic stress disorder (complex-PTSD), borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, and cognitive concerns related to hormonal changes and aging. She has worked with individuals processing childhood and/or adult traumatic experiences, adults with personality disorders, and individuals who have family and/or loved ones affected by the legal system (i.e., incarceration).

Dr. Kosuri also works with adults, couples, and families seeking to improve communication (i.e., parent-child conflict, divorce, custody arrangements etc.), emotional connection, and overall relational well-being. She has a particular focus on working with couples navigating high-conflict dynamics, relational ruptures, and the effects of trauma or longstanding patterns of distress. She also provides family therapy for those dealing with complex histories, including intergenerational trauma and chronic relational strain.

Dr. Kosuri completed her Master of Arts (M.A.) at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in Forensic Mental Health Counseling. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Queens College at the Graduate Center City of New York (CUNY) in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Adult Neuropsychology. Dr. Kosuri’s training foundations in NYC metropolitan has strengthened her importance in upholding cultural responsivity and having mindful discussion about the effects of identities on the therapist-client relationship in order to create a safe therapeutic alliance that will allow for positive clinical outcomes for the client.
