Dr. Laura Mayen, Psy.D., is a Registered Psychological Associate (PSB #94029919), supervised by Dr. Shannon Daneshrad (PSY34382). She provides psychotherapy to adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds and life experiences. Her clinical experience includes supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma and post-traumatic stress, identity development, relationship concerns, major life transitions, and perinatal mental health. She has also worked with LGBTQ+ individuals, children and families, including adoptive families, and clients navigating complex cultural and interpersonal experiences. As a bilingual Spanish-English clinician, Dr. Mayen is committed to creating a culturally responsive and affirming therapeutic space where clients feel understood, respected, and supported.
Dr. Mayen takes a collaborative and integrative approach to therapy, drawing from relational, psychodynamic, and evidence-based perspectives to meet each client’s unique needs. She views therapy as an opportunity to deepen self-understanding, explore patterns that may contribute to emotional distress, and foster meaningful, lasting change. Her clinical training spans community mental health, hospital settings, and private practice, where she has worked with individuals, couples, and families.
In addition to psychotherapy, Dr. Mayen has specialized training in psychological assessment. She helps individuals gain greater clarity around their emotional, cognitive, and interpersonal functioning, including questions related to personality, attention, and neurodivergence. She views assessment as a collaborative process that can help clients better understand themselves, make sense of their experiences, and identify meaningful paths forward.
Dr. Mayen earned her Master of Arts (M.A.) and Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology. Her clinical training in California and New York City has shaped her commitment to providing thoughtful, individualized, and culturally responsive care. She provides therapy in both English and Spanish.
